Sub-Sandboxes[]

Sandbox/International 2022 - what's going to happen?! - sorted now!

Sandbox/Zurich Casts - It's a bit of a mess atm.

Revising Character Infobox[]

The thought is to add an "Alternate Versions of this Character" - to include the 2019 Movie character pages, to incorporate Street Cat Tugger more smoothly, help untangle Pouncival/Carbucketty and Jemima/Sillabub etc etc etc. There's already "Also known as" - which seems to suit the translations better than the alternate versions.

Last time I tried to change the infobox it broke entirely and I had to re-do the whole category...

So, I've tried to add a "Alternate Versions" to the template, and it's not showing up. Yet? Is this a cached data issue?

Edit: Ok, now it's showing up, so I guess it was a cache problem!

Useful Codes[]

Collapsible Text[]

Related to the collapsible tables, funnily enough, but when you don't want to use a table to be able to hide text...

This text is not collapsible; but the next is collapsible and hidden by default:

This text should be hidden by default.

This text should be visible as well.

Including "+ heading" seems to break it? Oh well. Tends to be redundant anyway. Belle pullman (talk) 15:54, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

This version works with heading tho. Confuse. Lots of articles have it broken atm. Belle pullman (talk) 14:37, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

Gallery Stuff[]

Button: [[File:Button.png|center|link=pagename/Gallery]]

I find it useful to copy and paste the middle, the close/open, when breaking up a big gallery into smaller, faster loading sections.

As of June 2021, new formatting is coming... it's going to take some work to get our pages looking smooth again under the new system. The good news - the standard [1] formatting should be functional. But we need to find the best style to act as a guide across all pages.... and we got a lot, a LOT of galleries. I don't think we can adopt a "One size fits all" approach - different gallery tags will be needed on character pages, to the full galleries.

  • We should take this opportunity to update and improve the quality of the galleries - better, more informative captions, re-ordering images in an intuitive and easy way such as grouping backstage images together.
  • expand="true" seems to be irrelevant now - galleries no longer collapse automatically with a "see more" button. Yay.
  • Previously the best policy has been many short gallery tags - dividing the material into small bites that load easily. But going forward will the data bottleneck still be a problem; will the aesthetic be smoother with galleries containing more, captioned images?
  • mode=packed results in a centred, compact, space efficient gallery.
  • Adding a "Height" requirement controls the dimensions of the thumbnails - more visually pleasing than standardising the widths. The trouble is, when defining as specific pixel value, what displays best on all the different resolution screens?

I'm thinking, so far, that on pages like Bombalurina, the height tag is necessary as it seems slim portrait images are going to be rendered very small indeed - but the landscape orientation images adjust automatically quite well. The full production gallery, I'm not happy so far - dumping all the act 2 images into one gallery is a LOT to try to read. It makes much more sense to split them into individual musical numbers. But then the layout isn't at all pleasing, it distracts from the images.

There are more options, of course, so if you want to add please do!

As of August 2021, these improvements appear to be scrapped. Damn. Belle pullman (talk) 14:31, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Example Test - Bombalurina Illustrations[]

Refer to Bombalurina to compare the un-altered version.

Appearance

Bombalurina is a striking red queen with a white chest and black spots and marks, generally considered to be a very stylised tabby and white. She is one of the most eye-catching queens, being tall, elegant and self-possessed. She is generally portrayed as an adult, who occasionally exhibits kittenish behavior. She wears a black spiked, jeweled collar, and gloves rather than arm warmers.

She is a very sensual cat, dancing suggestively around the Toms who find her as attractive as the females do Tugger. She is often referred to as the 'Bombshell Cat'.

  • "packed" but no heights enforced
  • Set to 140 pixels

Sub-Sub-Sub-Headings[]

So the Table of Contents lets us use as many nested headings as we like - BUT - it quickly becomes WALL OF TEXT and unusable. So, we need the effect of a sub-heading break as far as the layout is concerned, to make it easier to read, but without including the coded sub-heading that ends up in the Table of Contents at the top.

I want a division line across the page here, to mark the change of subject. The cheaty way is to put in an image of a line... wait what? That was a complete accident to find what I wanted!

Super-Sub Heading

You know what really doesn't help, is that all the Help pages on Community Central are out-dated! Belle pullman (talk) 14:02, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Further thinking - the problem at hand is to make it clear when one gallery ends, and the next one begins. The division line is a strong tool, definitely needed between productions in character galleries. But if we over-use it it may well be too much. What if we were to use (abuse?) the table function to give each individual gallery the definition needed?
