Tom Hooper is an English film director known for his work on projects such as on Red Dust, The King's Speech, and Les Misérables. He is set to direct the 2019 film adaptation of Cats.

Career[]

After graduating Oxford, Tom directed multiple television commercials and short films, as well as episodes of EastEnders. He made his film debut in Red Dust (2014), which as later nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Single Drama category. Tom later helmed historical dramas Elizabeth I and the King's Speech, which opened to critical success. He previously directed the 2012 film adaptation of Les Misérables, which received eight Academy Award nominations. Tom was announced to direct Cats (2019) and produce the film alongside Steven Spielberg.

  • Tom has acted as director for both the film adaptations of Cats (2019) and Les Misérables (2012). Trevor Nunn, the original director of Cats, also directed the first English production of Les Misérables in London.
